Shockcord Drawstring
How a Shockcord Drawstring Works
A shockcord drawstring is an elastic cord sewn directly into the hem along the bottom edge of the cover. Pull it to draw the edge in, and the cord holds the cover snug around the base of the item. Because the tension is adjustable, you can change the fit to your exact setup and preference. It's commonly used on chair and sofa covers, and it's especially effective on items with an open or raised base. Something like swivel chairs, where the cord can cinch underneath for a clean, are great items to add this fastener.
Wind Protection
By drawing the bottom edge tight against the base, a shockcord drawstring reduces the loose fabric that wind likes to lift.
An Adjustable, Snug Fit
The elastic cord lets you adjust tension around the base to match your item so you can make the cover snug but easy enough to take on and off. On open or raised-base pieces like swivel chairs, the cord wraps underneath for a clean and secure fit.
